KDVI - a DVI previewer for KDE

[ home | features | documentation | screenshots | authors ]

KDVI is a DVI previewer for the K Desktop Environment, KDE. This programm displays DVI files which are produced by the TeX typesetting system. A full list of features can be found on the features page. For general information about TeX, see the homepage of the TeX users group. Those who read German find an excellent introduction here.

The current version, KDVI 1.4 is available free of charge on all that operating systems that allow to compile KDE. This includes all major versions of Unix, Linux and MacOS X. The program probably also runs under Windows, but I have never tried that. If you use Linux, the KDVI is most likely contained in your Linux distribution, and is probably already installed on your machine. Users who wish to install KDVI manually are referred to the KDE homepage which contains detailed installation instructions for KDE and the kdegraphics package that contains KDVI. These pages also contain links to pre-compiled binaries for most operating systems.

Developers and alpha-testers find the latest unstable versions of KDVI in the HEAD branch in KDE CVS. See the cvsup page of the KDE project for more instructions on staying at the cutting edge.

KDE's bugtracking system has a list of known KDVI bugs.
